An Evening of Moliére One-Acts: The Ridiculed Romantics (1659) and The Forced Marriage (1664)

Directed: Gabrielle Houle

Costume Design: Karyn McCallum

For this production, I took on the role of wing-maker. Both plays are set during the French Baroque period and draw heavily from the commedia dell’arte tradition. Costume Designer Karyn McCallum wanted to stay true to the extravagance of the time. The costumes for this production were incredibly detailed, with my entire class solely in charge of the wigs.

I began with a strand of ribbon and a piece of tulle that I sewed together. Then each strand was finger rolled to form a curl.

Each row of curls was then hand sewn onto a mesh cap.

More tulle and ribbon were used to create hair bows and baby hairs.
